Trail cameras record the wildlife that visits while you're away: a wombat on the track, a lyrebird at dawn, a quoll at the waterhole. Strap one to a tree near water or a well-used pad and check it a week later.
Ask the landholder first, and check park rules before setting a camera on public land.
