Questions
Common questions
What is digiscoping?
Digiscoping is photographing through a spotting scope or binoculars with a phone or camera. An adapter holds your device in line with the eyepiece, giving you far more reach than a phone alone.
What do I need to start digiscoping?
A spotting scope, a sturdy tripod with a smooth head, and an adapter that suits your phone or camera. Swarovski's VPA phone adapter fits most phones; camera users can pair a TLS APO lens with a T2 ring for their camera mount.
Angled or straight spotting scope for photography?
Angled scopes are easier to use on a low tripod and to share, and are the more popular choice for birding. Straight scopes are quicker to aim at moving subjects and easier to use from a vehicle or a hide window.
